Guild Objectives and
Strategy
v
Promote the
value of public relations and propagate its use, especially in the City and for
the benefit of the City of London
v
Develop
support for education for young and more established public relations
practitioners, including a mentoring scheme that is relevant and appropriate to
our profession.
v
Promote
charitable endeavour, raising money and providing support for the Guild's
Charitable Trust and other relevant charities
v
Foster good
fellowship and discussion in the profession
Promoting best practice is
an objective the Guild shares with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations,
which helps individuals to acquire skills and knowledge that will enhance their
value to employers, and with the Public Relations Consultants Association that
aims to do the same for member consultancies and thus enhance their value to
clients.
The Guild is an additional forum, open to those in public relations who share
our commitment to enhancing and promoting the value of our profession, and for
putting something back into the community, particularly through charitable
giving and fund-raising.
Manifesto
To help focus
on our objectives, the Court produced a Manifesto
in November 2002 on the anniversary of the Guild’s second year. A review of
progress was given by the Master at the Guild’s Annual Assembly on 24 March
2004. Our Manifesto is built around three key objectives:
1. To
promote, support and encourage standards of excellence, integrity and
honourable practice in the
field of public relations.
2. To support
training and education in public relations and related activities
3. To promote
charitable endeavour and raise money for charitable
organisations.
This Manifesto sets out how
our Guild proposes to fulfil its role as one of the first City of London Guilds
to be created in the 21st century by leading our profession in the
City.
In setting out an active
programme to achieve these objectives, The Guild of Public Relations
Practitioners intends to engage in all these activities and engender in the
process a spirit of good fellowship and companionship so that all members can
meet together on an equal basis to discuss issues of shared interest.
