The City of London Guild of Public Relations Practitioners was formed in June 2000, with the same aims that have inspired all Livery Companies over the centuries: to promote and maintain excellence in the practice of our profession; to support education and training of practitioners; and to build charitable funds through which the public relations profession can give back to the communities it serves.

Trade and craft associations have flourished all over Europe for many centuries, but the City of London companies, now collectively known as the Livery, are unique in their survival, number and diversity. Until the formation of the Guild, public relations was not represented among them, but since the practice of public relations is an essential activity of all companies and institutions within the City, it seemed entirely appropriate that PR professionals should take the first step towards creating their own Livery Company.

As well as promoting best practice and charitable giving, the Guild also offers senior members of the PR community a forum that encourages good fellowship and interchange of ideas with their peer group both inside and outside the profession.

We have a full programme of events from formal City dinners to open discussion Communication Forums and fund-raising Quiz Nights. To find out what's happening next, have a look at the events page.
